Ok-o-meter
A daily mood check-in that takes seconds, with six ways to answer: traffic light, fuel gauge, weather, tractor… If the trend dips, the app suggests resources.
Mobile app
A mental health app for the farming community: daily self-assessment, a resource directory, testimonials and tools, so producers take care of themselves as well as they take care of their land.
The background
The idea was born in 2019, championed by an agronomist and a rural outreach worker: give farmers a discreet tool to keep an eye on their morale and find help at the right time.
The project took root thanks to a crowdfunding campaign that raised over $45,000 from 237 contributors. The next step was to build an app worthy of that trust: simple, reassuring and respectful of privacy.
Québec Studio handled the programming, from the mobile app to the admin, on a design by Et hop! studio.
In the app
A daily mood check-in that takes seconds, with six ways to answer: traffic light, fuel gauge, weather, tractor… If the trend dips, the app suggests resources.
A directory of support services, filtered by the user’s region.
Practical guides and stories from farmers who have been there.
Your support circle, one tap away by email or text. In an emergency, the right numbers are always at hand.
Notifications to keep the habit going, and a streak of consecutive days of use.
All the help content is available without creating an account.
For the organization
The Okérico team manages the content, reaches its users and tracks usage on its own, without going through us.
Guides, testimonials, resource directory and emergency page.
Regions, sub-regions and types of farming, for well-targeted resources.
Messages sent according to profile, with a history of everything sent.
A well-being index aggregated by region and type of farming, with a heat map.
Identity and contacts stay on the phone, never tied to the account. Statistics are only viewed in aggregate, and closing an account anonymizes its data. For a mental health tool, that was non-negotiable.
