Our story

It all started with a gentle little crash

Richard was 15 when he wrote his first lines of code, in Turbo Pascal. First feat: crashing the family computer, gently. Second feat: figuring out why. There was no Internet to look up the answer and no AI to whisper it, so he had to work it out on his own. You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs, and he broke a few before mastering the recipe. His mother could tell you all about it…

Since then, his path has crossed Visual Basic, C++ and Delphi, then the web in the days of PHP 4. At firms, at agencies, and even in the evenings on his own time, he has worked on enterprise software, SaaS products, server and console applications, moderation tools for video chat platforms, and chatbots long before anyone called them “intelligent.” Having watched social media take off, he was quick to integrate it into the solutions he built. He didn’t do it to follow the trend, but to make it genuinely useful.

A committed self-learner, he refuses to rest on what he already knows. Curious and persistent, he constantly seeks out the best of what’s being done, then shares it with others.

His instinct, though, hasn’t changed: take a problem apart until he understands how it works. With more than 30 years of experience, he now puts that instinct to work for organizations through Québec Studio, which he founded in 2017.
